Pipistrel Virus SW – The Prius Of The Skies

The Pipistrel Virus truly is a true form of performance and efficiency. Being one of Pipistrel’s earliest model, this line of aircraft have now developed into a true modern day speed machine.

The Virus is built off of the Pipistrel Sinus. They have practically the same design/airframe and fuselage. Also share the same cabin space. The main difference comes in the size of the engine and the performance of the aircraft. The Virus unlike it’s predecessor uses the standard 100 HP Rotax engine. This boosts the performance of the aircraft to cruise over 140 knots, 147 knots to be exact. All while burning only 5 gallons of fuel per hour. This aircraft can average up to 50 mpg. This makes it one of the most efficient single engine aircraft ever built. And because the performance is beyond 120 kts, this puts the aircraft in the experimental category.
