The first Mooney M20 was certified back in 1955. That model only had 150hp engine. But what really set the Mooney apart was its speed. The tiny 150hp engine propelled this plane to cruise north of 170 mph. Impressive right? well there’s been several modifications to the M20 over the years and the one featured in this video is a 1984 model with a much bigger 200hp Lycoming engine.
Mooney M20s are known for their ease of complexity with the manually actuated retractable landing gear,. They are also know for speed and being economical. This M20 will cruise between 135 and 150 knots with a fuel burn of 12-13 gallons of fuel per hour. Now you can find older models of this aircraft on that are even more economical, burns half the fuel and still travel just as fast
