She Flies Helicopters For A Living l Young Women In Aviation

I was at the Robinson Helicopters in Torrance CA this past week. And Monica was kind enough to show me around. I was so inspired by her accomplishment that I had to share her story with you guys.

Monica is a young woman from California. Lucky for her, her grandfather was also an airplane pilot so she had a knack for flying early on. Monica wanted to be an airline pilot, but once she took her first ride in a Robinson R44 helicopter, it was all she wrote. Since her first flight, she’d made up her mind that she only wanted to fly helicopters. And good thing she did because she now flies Robinson helicopters for a living.

Aviation is such a small world and when you meet minorities in aviation, especially women. You have to tip your hats off to them. This is because, women are underrepresented in the Pilot community. Perhaps most women don’t see themselves in the cockpit because they haven’t seen many other women as pilots. The irony is that a lot of men out there get’s inspired by seeing other female pilots. I’m one of them, several years ago I decided to start flight training and ultimately acquired my pilots license after reading and watching several women in aviation.
