Wilga DRACO! Monster STOL Aircraft At Oshkosh 2018
Welcome to Oshkosh 2018. As requested today we are looking for the experimental Wilga 2000 Stol aircraft built by aviator Mike Patey. The build is also known as DRACO. The Wilga 2000 is an already powerful short takeoff and landing aircraft and you can tell just by the size of this thing.
Originally the Wilga 2000 is a tailwheel bush plane that comes with 300 horse power Piston engine. But Mike wanted even more power so he swapped in a more powerful turbine engine. Producing 680 horse power. It took us a while to find this airplane at Oshkosh, we had to walk a little, get on 3 different shuttles and then ask some good Samaritans to help us in the right direction.
At the end, we found the Draco parked just south of the Ultralight field. Just from first impression, this aircraft is a monster. Has big fat tires both by the nose and the tail. It is a 2 seater, and you have more than enough room in the cabin to fit two adults and some baggage. We have no actual numbers on the performance of the turbine engine. But I just assume that this thing will get off the ground in no time and climb at an outsding rate. Chances are this aircraft will win the STOL championship award at Oshkosh 2018.
