The $20,000 Trainer No One Talks About! Piper Tomahawk Review

For all those interested to fly, the Piper Tomahawk is a legitimate option for you to start. This is one of my favorite trainers of all time. It has a similar look with the DA40  with the majestic look of the T-Tail. As far as training aircrafts, Tomahawks rarely ends up in the conversation. That’s because of the stigma that surrounds it. Which most of it, is just a myth. Back in the 70’s, they tried to get into the trainer market with this plane. The production version came out in 1978 and the plane we’re going to review is a modernized version of the 1979 model.

Piper PA-38 Tomahawk Specs:

  • Capacity: 2 People
  • Engine: Lycoming 112 HP
  • Range: 500 Miles
  • Speed: 110 mph
  • Price: $20k – $30k
