Time for an update on my Mercedes SL500. The car still drives great so that’s good. But some parts keeps breaking. Mostly cosmetic stuff. Since the last video i did on this car, it’s been in a fender bender and I’ve had to fix the front of the car. Now I have work on fixing the back and top. Namely the convertible soft top. Before I get to that though, here are the work done at the auto shop so far.
Fender Bender:
– Bumper had to be fixed/replaced. Even though the car was hit on the right passenger side, we still had to fix almost the entire front
– Headlight had to be replaced also with the fog lights. Again because we had to fix the entire front of the car
– Front Lower Grill also fixed/replaced
Total cost for this body repair was in the tune of $4,000. The Mercedes Benz r129 bumper alone cost $2,200. You should know there are almost NO aftermarket parts for this car which sucks.
Now what I covered in this video was the fact that it’s so damn expensive to fix my convertible of top. Up to $3,000. I initially thought that I only needed to replace the plastic in the back that was coming apart on the soft top. But just about every Mercedes Benz specialist I’ve spoken to tells me I would need to replace the entire top and that will cost $2500 – $3000.
So of you boys and girls out there, beware if you’re going to purchase this car. As beautiful and smooth as it is, it can cost you a pretty penny to keep it in your drive way.
