Piper aircraft is rebranding itself as the better alternative to training new pilots. A bit of history lesson, many pilots actually fly or train in a piper aircraft. Both Piper and Cessnas have been the go to airplane for many flight schools to train new students. But like anything in aviation, it gets expensive. And with the new trends in more modern alternatives in the light sport aircraft category, a lot of older manufacturers are looking to get a bite of the pie.
Piper 100i is here to get some of that pie of the pilot training market. Piper Aircraft made the announcement in December of last year that it has received type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Pilot 100. The Pilot 100, which was announced during Sun-n-Fun in 2019, is the value priced addition to Piper’s trainer-class line. Following certification, Piper began deliveries to its launch customer, American Flyers, who will be taking delivery of eight (8) Pilot 100i aircraft by the end of 2020.
